Thugs masquerading as police officers arrested in Kiambu
Two
criminals posing as police officers have been arrested following a
seemingly botched robbery attempt in Ruiru's Kihunguro area in Kiambu County.
According
to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the imposters besieged
a house at Elim Sheperd Apartments on Thursday, at around 1 am, and introduced
themselves as DCI detectives stationed at Pangani Police Station.
The
house's occupants however became suspicious of the intruders and raised alarm
drawing in officers from Ruiru Police Station.
"The swift response by the Ruiru based officers caught the thugs by surprise as one of them attempted to fly from the 3rd floor of the apartment only to land on the apartment’s floor with a heavy thud seriously injuring his head," said the DCI in a statement.
After finding no escape route, the second suspect surrendered to the police. Police recovered a fake pistol and a phony police identification card from the suspect.
The injured suspect was rushed to Ruiru Level IV Hospital for treatment while his accomplice, Robert Gitonga, is currently being detained at Ruiru Police Station pending further action.
