Tragedy as father, two children killed in Busia house fire

Three people, including two children, were burnt to death at Bulagu village in Budalang’i, Busia County, after the house they were sleeping in caught fire on Friday night.

According to a neighbour of the deceased, he heard cries for help at around 1a.m. When he rushed to the home of Patrick Bahati, he found that the fire had already spread widely.

Efforts to rescue Bahati and his two children, who were in Grade Seven and Grade Two respectively, were unsuccessful due to the intensity of the blaze.

Bunyala Sub-County OCPD Lawrenias Odinga confirmed the incident, saying investigations into the cause of the fire, which remains unknown, have since been launched.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Port Victoria Hospital mortuary.
