A magistrate has jailed an editor at Tuko news for six months or pay a fine of 50,000 shillings for allegedly misreporting and publishing a story over the NYS story .

Magistrate Eunice Nyutu said that the sentence will serve as a warning to other Journalists against misreporting.

The Tuko editor was summoned to appear in court today after the prosecution told the court that it published a story that tainted the witness.

The editor apologized to the court and told the court that they pulled down the article.

The Magistrate insisted that publishing a defamatory story is punishable by law.
