The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has seized bhang valued at approximately Ksh.2 million in Naivasha and arrested a suspected notorious drug trafficker believed to have long operated in the area.

The haul was recovered during an intelligence-led operation in which a multi-agency security team raided a suspected drug den. Authorities confirmed the arrest of the prime suspect and an accomplice.

According to NACADA, the operation uncovered cannabis sativa “meticulously packaged for distribution” in forms including stones, tariffs, sacks, and rolls—an indication of a well-organised supply chain.

The two suspects are in custody, with the case transferred to the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) Headquarters for further investigations and possible prosecution.

The crackdown comes amid heightened concern over drug distribution targeting young people during the ongoing school holidays. NACADA CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa warned traffickers against exploiting the period.

“To the drug traffickers who see school holidays as a prime time to peddle your poison and destroy our children, your days are numbered,” Dr. Omerikwa said. “This operation sends a clear message—we are coming for you and will not allow the future of our next generation to be compromised.”
