Two bodies of unidentified men spotted floating on Thika river

Kiunyu village in Gatanga is in shock after bodies of two unidentified men were discovered floating in the Thika River.

Another body was found at the same location about a month ago, according to local residents who camped out waiting for police officers to arrive.

“We have been here for over two hours and no police officers have come to collect the bodies, we have no idea who these people are,” Mercy from Kihumbuini village told Citizen Digital.

Residents urged security forces to begin investigations into the deceased’s identities, as well as how and why they were killed. .

“About a month ago, another body was recovered from this location; we demand to know who these people are and who murdered them; it is now out of control,” Kang’ethe, a local resident, said on Saturday.

One of the bodies discovered on Saturday afternoon lacked eyes and had both hands severed at the wrists.

The latest discovery comes just days after a body with missing upper limbs was discovered in the Mathioya River and taken to the Muranga County morgue.

The body was discovered by sand harvesters going about their daily duties, and the area chief summoned the police.

At the time, police believed the body belonged to Jack Onyango, one of four men who went missing in Kitengela nearly two weeks ago.

Mr. Onyango’s family, on the other hand, would deny the reports, claiming that the body discovered in Murang’a was not their relative.

A week ago, a body believed to be Elijah Obuong’s was discovered in river Mukungai, just a few meters away from river Mathioya, and was taken to the same morgue.

Family members paid a visit to the morgue but refused to speak with the media.

A body believed to be that of Benjamin Imbai was discovered in Kieni forest, Gatundu North constituency, in neighboring Kiambu county. The body has been transported to the General Kago Road Funeral Home.

The whereabouts of Brian Oduor, the group’s fourth member, are currently unknown.

The quartet’s vehicle, a white Toyota Mark X, was discovered abandoned the next day in a parking lot about 500 meters from the club where they were last seen.

Hillary Mutyambai, the Inspector General of Police, directed the DCI on Friday to form a team to investigate the murders.

According to IG Mutyambai, the team that has already started working will report its findings in a month.

This comes as speculation about the four’s business dealings grows, but police sources have refused to reveal any information about the group’s day-to-day activities.
