Two children killed in Isiolo house fire

Two children died on Saturday night in a house fire at Nturi area on the Isiolo-Meru border.

The young girls, aged three and seven, were alone in the house when fire broke out burning them to death.

According to the neighbours, the children’s father, James Muriungi, was at his place of work in Isiolo Boys High School, where he works as a security guard while their mother, Doris Kananu, had gone to fetch water at Kandebene area.

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the fire that completely destroyed the wooden house.

The bodies were moved to Isiolo County Referral Hospital.

Still on Saturday, five family members including a mother, father and their three children died in a house fire at Kamgundho location in Uriri, Migori County.

Area chief Mr. Samuel Onjiko confirmed the incident saying the five were sleeping when the fire broke out in their house at around midnight on Saturday, December 23.

On Friday, December 22, two children died after a fire broke out in their house in Lower Milimani area in Kisumu.

Kisumu Town Senior Chief Location Willis Onyona said the two children, aged 5 and 6 were burnt beyond recognition.
