Two dead as Marakwet, Pokot renew clashes
Tension is high at Kinyach area in Kerio Valley after two people were shot dead on Sunday following renewed clashes between the Marakwet and Pokot communities.
The incident that took place at a border point between Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties was sparked by competition for water and pasture.
Confirming the incident, Kinyach location chief, Joseph Kiplalon, said that tension has been on the rise as the communities fight for resources as the drought continues to hit the area.
The chief further disclosed that many heads of livestock have died while others are at risk.
He appealed to the national government to intervene by providing grass and water to the residents to prevent the situation from getting worse.
