Two people were confirmed dead following a strike by health workers in Bungoma County, amid claims that the number could be higher.

Bungoma County health executive Dr Wekesa Kubasu reiterated that only two people had dies, despite the fact that reports indicate that more than ten patients have lost their lives due to the strike.

Health workers in Bungoma went on strike last week protesting the delay of salaries, a fact that has disrupted the delivery of service.

While visiting the affected facilities, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula on Sunday asked the Senate Health and Public Finance Committees to investigate the Bungoma and Webuye Refferal Hospitals.

Bungoma Referral Hospital was shut down for hours on Thursday after health workers took to the streets to protest the delayed of payment of salaries.

However, the demo came to an abrupt end after some of them received notifications from their banks that their salaries had been remitted to their accounts.
