Two people died on the spot while four were on Monday afternoon rushed to the Kaplong Mission Hospital in Bomet following an accident in the Mikingo area along the Bomet-Kaplong highway.

According to Bomet County police commandant Robinson Ndiwa, the accident involved two cars headed in opposite directions, which collided head-on.

One car veered off its lane as its driver tried to avoid hitting a stationary car parked at the edge of the road.

Following the incident, a snarl-up of vehicles plying the Kisii- Narok highway lasted for close to two hours before normalcy was restored.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Kapkatet hospital mortuary.
