Two more suspects arrested over theft of Ksh.15M from Chinese national
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two more suspects in connection with the theft of Ksh.15 million from a Chinese national.
Acting on intelligence, the sleuths from the DCI’s Special Service Unit (SSU) trailed the duo – Cyrus Kinyanjui (32) and Alexander Kuria (30) – to Mombasa.
Kinyanjui was intercepted aboard a Toyota Vanguard from which Ksh.2 million in cash was recovered before the vehicle was impounded.
The second suspect, Kuria, had no cash on him at the time of the arrest but the detectives have since established that he deposited Ksh.1 million in his Equity Bank account.
Detectives believe the amounts are part of the Ksh.15 million that was stolen from Wang Daoli, a Chinese national, further stating that the vehicle could have been the one that was captured on CCTV at the scene.
Four suspects – Kelvin Kimathi, Purity Achieng, Benard Ndiegu, and Serah Wanjiru – were on Saturday arrested over the theft.
Wang Daoli is said to have left the cash in a safe inside his house in Lang’ata on Thursday last week before joining friends at a party to celebrate China’s new year. However, when he came back, the safe was missing.
Detectives, operating on the theory that the theft was an inside job, arrested the four who are Wang’s workers among them the househelp, driver, and supervisor.
32-Year-Old Cyrus Kinyanjui and his accomplice Alexander Kuria, 30 are in our custody being prime suspects in the Lang'ata thievery where 15 million shillings was stolen from a Chinese national three days ago.
