Two old trees fall in Nairobi CBD blocking Moi Avenue

The torrential rains that continue to ravage neighbourhoods and streets across the nation have affected one of the crucial intersections in the Nairobi CBD.

Footages obtained by Citizen Digital show the aftermath of Tuesday night's heavy downpour that felled two of the oldest trees within the capital.

The two gigantic trees located at the Kenyatta Avenue and Moi Avenue intersection outside the Nairobi Sports House and Imenti House were uprooted and blocked the key entry and exit points.

Operations have remained paralysed for the better part of Wednesday morning as pedestrians were being diverted to use alternative routes.

Other parts of in the country were also not spared as Kitengela Road in Kajiado County was closed after River Athi broke its banks between Portland and the interchange. 

Traffic has been diverted to Makadara.

Other parts have remained submerged among them areas in Thika, Parklands, Imaara Daima, Langata Road and others.
