Two people lost their lives on Thursday after two trucks collided in Migaa, Sachangwan area on the busy Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
According
to reports, the two lorries were en route to Nakuru ferrying firewood and maize
respectively, when the latter’s driver failed to notice speed bumps losing control
of his vehicle before crashing into the other truck.
The
driver whose truck was transporting maize died on the spot together with his
turnboy while the occupants of the other vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
“The bumps are what led to the accident that saw two people lose their lives. It’s lucky that the wall separating the two lanes is there because the truck could have crossed onto the other lane and cause more damages.
Since it was erected
we have witnessed fewer accidents; even if they do happen, they have reduced considerably,”
an eye witness said.
The Sachang’wan section of the highway has become
synonymous with grisly road accidents that have claimed hundreds of lives over
the past decade.
