Two pupils injured in Mwea West after school gate collapses on them

Two pupils in Mwea West, Kirinyaga County were seriously injured after their school gate collapsed.

According to the evening guard Albert Muriithi, the gate collapsed on Thursday evening.

The victims parents Simon Irungu and David Wanjohi said the two pupils were rushed to the nearby health centers at around 4:30pm.

Irungu said his 11-year-old daughter, a class seven pupil suffered right leg injuries and pain in her chest but was treated at Kimbimbi Sub-County Hospital and discharged.

His daughter will however not be able to attend classes this term because she is unable to sit down on her own.

He added that more medical test are required to ascertain the extent of the injuries.

David Wanjohi said he rushed his 14-year-old daughter, a class seven pupil, to White Rose Private Hospital.

Doctors discovered that she had suffered internal injuries.
