Two senior prison officers murdered over Sacco-related matter in Transmara
Police in Transmara are pursuing
a suspect who allegedly aided the gruesome murder of two prison officers in
Metinkuar village.
The duo was on a mission to settle a Sacco-related matter with a
retired colleague- the main suspect.
Four individuals have since been arrested in connection with the
heinous act, with a multi-agency team activated to comb Transmara West in an
effort to arrest the main suspect identified as Pius Lemiso Ndiwa.
The deceased pair identified as Inspector Patrick Mukunyi Kuya
and Senior Sergent Daniel Nairimo left Nairobi on Wednesday in
pursuit of what officers in the prisons department say was to settle a
Sacco-related matter with Ndiwa who defaulted on a loan and left the city to
reside in the countryside.
Upon reaching Ndiwa's homestead in Mentinkuar, the duo faced
hostility from the suspect's family who screamed. Ndiwa had apparently told his
family that the two strangers in their homestead were thugs.
With that information, Ndiwa's two sons pounced on the two prison
wardens who were in civilian attire with arrows and machetes.
“We arrived at the scene and we found two bodies badly mutilated,
one had three arrows lodged on his back and the other had deep cuts on his back,”
Kilgoris OCPD Jamleck Ngaruiya said.
Ndiwa's wife however claims that her husband was not around during
the incident, however it remains unclear at what point his phone was switched
off.
“We have activated a multi-agency team combing the area and we
believe we shall get the suspect,” Transmara West OCPD Jamleck Ngaruiya noted.
The
ugly incident has left Metinkuar villagers in shock and utter disbelief with a
multi-agency team in pursuit of the main suspect who is currently at large.
