Two students in hospital after alleged suicide attempt goes wrong

Two students were admitted to Tenwek Mission Hospital in Bomet after alleged attempts to commit suicide failed.

In the first incident, a 13-year-old student from Chebulu Primary School missed her morning classes prompting a search for her.

She was found unconscious at her home that afternoon.

”She had consumed acaricides, a pesticide used to kill termites and ticks,” Bomet Police Commander Musa Imamai said.

In the second incident in Chepalungu, a 15-year-old boy from Itembe Secondary School was found reportedly attempting suicide in his dormitory.

The Form Two student was found dandling from the roof collar beam with a towel tied around his neck.

His colleagues managed to untie him and alert their teachers who rushed the boy to Tenwek hospital.

The county police chief said investigations into the two incidents are underway.
