Two suspects in Kamukunji businesswoman Hafsa Mohamed kidnapping case freed

The two suspects allegedly behind the kidnapping of Kamukunji-based businesswoman Hafsa Mohamed Lukman have been freed on a bond of Ksh.1 million with one surety.

The prosecution had requested for 14 days to detain the suspects, 24-year-old Jackson Njogu and his 21-year-old accomplice Hafsa Abdi and her.

Appearing before Magistrate Heston Nyagah on Wednesday, the two were also ordered not to contact witnesses as well as the complainant in the case.

They were further directed to report to the investigating officer every fortnight.

The two lovers were late last month arrested at Crystal view lodge in Kinangop, Nyandarua County.

The duo, said to have masterminded the kidnapping of Hafsa from her shop, managed to siphon a total of Ksh.650,000 from her bank accounts.

They then reportedly escaped to Kinangop and purchased a bar which they were operating.

The two kidnappers had demanded a ransom Ksh.5 million, but when it was not delivered, they opted to flee.

Hafsa was later found by detectives inside a water tank at a dingy room in Matopeni area in Kayole.
