Two wanted M-Pesa fraudsters arrested for allegedly stealing Ksh. 297K

Police in Kisumu have arrested two M-Pesa fraud suspects who have been on the run after allegedly stealing Ksh. 297,000 in Mombasa.

The suspects; Saleh Omar and Omari Ahmed, were nabbed during a sting operation on Thursday night in Kaloleni estate.

DCI officers from Kondele police station have been on their pursuit since fleeing from Mombasa where they committed the offence on New Year's eve.

Kisumu County Commissioner Josephine Ouko who confirmed the incident says the suspects had snatched a bag containing a phone from an unsuspecting member of the public.

She says the duo then went ahead to withdraw the Ksh.297,000 from the M-Pesa account and then came to hide in Kisumu before being busted last night by the police.

Ouko says they are being held at the Kondele Police Station and will be transferred to Mombasa to face robbery with violence charges.
