Two-year-old boy killed in accident involving Kirinyaga County Gov’t vehicle

A two-year-old boy died on Wednesday in a road accident at Kimbimbi Trading Centre along Mwea-Embu Road in Kirinyaga County.

The boy together with his 13-year-old brother and mother were riding on a motorcycle when they were knocked down by a lorry belonging to the Kirinyaga County Government.

Confirming the 5pm incident, Mwea-East OCPD Dorothy Gaitenga said the lorry and motorcycle, which was being ridden by the 13-year-old boy, were heading in the same direction.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident, however, eyewitnesses say the lorry hit the motorcycle from behind.

The two-year-old boy died on the spot while his mother and brother were taken to a private hospital in the area.

The body of the boy was taken to Mwea Mission Hospital mortuary.

The driver of the lorry was forced to drive into Wang’uru Police Station to evade a mob that was threatening to lynch him.
