President Kenyatta announced in a gazette notice on Monday that the Senate and National Assembly will meet at 9 a.m. in the Senate Chamber and the National Assembly Chamber, respectively.

Both sessions will take place in the Parliament's main buildings.

"The First Sitting of the National Assembly shall be held at the Main Parliament Buildings in the National Assembly Chamber, on the 8th September, 2022, at 9.00 a.m."

The preceding is in accordance with Article 126 (2) of the Kenyan Constitution, which states that the President "shall appoint the place and date for the first sitting of the new House, which shall be not more than thirty days after the election, by notice in the Gazette."

MPs and Senators-elect are always sworn in during the first sitting as well as the election of a Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
