Uhuru leads Raila, new Ipsos poll shows

If elections were held today, President Uhuru Kenyatta would garner 47 percent of the total votes cast, while opposition NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga would get 43 percent.

This is according poll released by research firm IPSOS which shows 61 percent of Kenyans feel the country is heading in the wrong direction while only 27 percent believe Kenya is on the right path.

Despite these negative sentiments, the poll shows 53 percent of Kenyans approve of President Kenyatta’s performance in government while 41 percent disapprove.

The opinion poll was conducted from July 3rd to 12th this year and a total of 2,209 people were interviewed.

CONFIDENCE LEVELS

The IPSOS poll shows 40 percent of Kenyans have confidence in the Head of State while 39 percent trust NASA flag-bearer Raila Odinga. Kenyans showed almost similar levels of confidence in the leading presidential candidates running mates with 33 percent saying they have confidence in the Deputy President William Ruto and 34 percent in Kalonzo Musyoka.

At the same time, 44 percent of Kenyans feel closest to Jubilee while 42 are closest to NASA.
