Mrs Sarah Kasaon, 56, who passed away at the Nairobi Hospital on July 18th, was a public servant who had successfully transitioned into farming and agribusiness, and became a celebrated role model in her community.

Family, relatives, friends and neighbours of Mama Sarah, as she was popularly known to them, paid glowing tribute to the late Mrs Kasaon as a philanthropist who taught locals how to earn wealth from farming and was always willing  to guide others to succeed in life.

In his speech, President Kenyatta  acknowledged Mrs Sarah Kasaon’s outstanding  success as a long serving public servant, a farmer and busines woman.

The Head of State extolled the late Mrs Kasaon as being an independent woman who contributed immensely to moulding Lt Gen Kasaon into an outstanding career soldier who rose through the ranks to the top leadership of the Kenya Defense Forces.

President Kenyatta underlined the important role the military plays in the wellbeing of our country noting that Kenyans are grateful for the work its soldiers do in protecting the country.

Further, the Head of State expressed gratitude to the families of the soldiers for the sacrifices they make for the benefit of the nation.

“Behind every successful man there is a strong woman. The General (Joseph Kasaon) would not have reached where he has reached without the contribution of his wife,” said President Kenyatta.

The President wished the family of Lt. Gen. Kasaon God’s providence, peace and strength to soldier on and challenged them to advance the late Mrs Kasaon’s businesses and philanthropic engagements.

On his part, Deputy President William Ruto noted the late Sarah Kasaon’s contribution in making Lt Gen Kasaon the outstanding soldier he is.

“Kasaon became a pillar of the integrity, professionalism and outstanding performance of our military.

“We can identify the contribution of Mama Sarah in the General’s performance,”said DP Ruto.

While eulogising the late Mama Sarah, the Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Mwathethe said she was the perfect military wife.

“A military wife must have the qualities of both a mother and a father.  A military wife is supposed to have six sets of hands all of them taking care of her family. Sarah qualified to be the perfect military wife,” said Gen. Mwathethe.

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui told mourners that his county had lost an accomplished farmer and a dependable resident who was always ready to support needy cases in her community.

Cabinet Secretaries Raychelle Omamo (Defence) and Simon Chelugui (Water) were among other senior government officials at the funeral service.
