The United Opposition has accused the national government of allegedly allowing goons to disrupt their meeting at Gusii Stadium on Monday, saying police dragged their feet to react to the incident showing laxity.

The leaders have now rallied residents of Kisii and Nyamira counties to back their push to send President William Ruto home in 2027, claiming the Head of State has neglected the Abagusii and Kipsigis communities.

The second day of the United Opposition’s charm offensive in Nyamira and Kisii counties saw leaders traverse Nyamira Town, Marani Market, Nyakoe Market, Suneka Town and Nyamarambe Shopping Centre, mobilizing support to consolidate the Gusii vote, and prepare a showdown against President Ruto in 2027.

DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua said: “Ati wanauliza kwa nini Rigathi Gachagua, Matiang’i wako Gusii…William Ruto Keep off family matters.”

His PNU counterpart Peter Munya stated: “Kenya inahitaji wachapa kazi… saa hii watu tuko nao ni mdomo tu… walipata elimu wakaharibu, wakapata afya wakafanya mbaya zaidi.”

The leaders also accused the government of turning a blind eye as goons disrupted their Gusii Stadium rally, faulting security agencies for what they termed deliberate laxity.

Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’I said: “Kwani mimi nimetuma watu Sugoi kuingilia mambo ya watu wengine? Mbona sisi tuingiliwe tukiwa nyumbani? Wanajaribu kuni-intimidate?”

Despite criticism from a section of Kipsigis leaders, former Deputy President Gachagua maintained he remains committed to championing the interests of Rift Valley residents, saying many are dissatisfied even as some leaders continue defending the government.

“Kama watu wa Kipsigis wamekuja kwangu wamesema niwatetee kwa sababu viongozi wamenyamaza, shida iko wapi? Wao ni Wakenya sio Wakenya?” Posed Gachagua.

The opposition leaders have also vowed to thwart any alleged attempts at electoral malpractice in 2027 insisting they shall remain united and front the most favorable candidate to face President Ruto at the ballot.

The United opposition is expected to wind up its rallies in the region on Wednesday amid critcisms from leaders in government of allegedly orchestrating the violence witnessed themselves.
