Vetted Police Bosses’ Fate Out in April

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday at the commission’s offices, NPSC chairman Johnstone Kavuludi said the outcome of the third phase of the vetting would be known in April.

Kavuludi added that 16 police bosses opted out of the exercise.

"So far only three sacked senior police officers have appealed against their removal from office," said Kavuludi.

Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru is among the senior officers who underwent scrutiny in the third phase.

Other senior officers who were interviewed include Patrick Muhuni, a senior assistant commissioner of police in the directorate of criminal investigations.

The fourth phase of the vetting exercise will target 1,103 senior police officers including OCPDs.
