Hundreds of Uasin Gishu residents, who claim to have been promised overseas jobs by First Choice Recruitment agency on Monday held demonstrations in Eldoret town.

Parents claimed they were defrauded, accusing the Agency’s management of intimidating them in their quest for justice.

Selly Yego, a parent from Turbo Constituency said she paid for her two children to get jobs abroad, and is now depressed after failing to get back her hard-earned money.

Senate petitioner Kimutai Kirui of Centre Against Torture accused some government officials of allowing the Agency to continue operating unlawfully.

He claimed the company has been issuing fake cheques to the victims.

Appearing before the Senate Labour and Social Welfare Committee, the agency’s director Judy Jepchirchir said it did not defraud the youths, arguing that it has deployed more than 7,000 Kenyans to various companies abroad in their four years of operation.
