The boat, which is fitted with emergency and surgical equipment is expected to serve 150,000 people by linking them to King Fahd Referral Hospital.

Lamu County is largely an island hence most hospital referrals rely on water transport on the Indian Ocean.

Patients will reach the ambulance on a toll-free number and will be available 24/7.
