Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has shrugged off claims of being victimized by the current administration, intimating that he is too focused on his other duties to be bothered by what he termed as idle talk.

Kenyatta was responding to Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who seemingly hit out at the government over an alleged plot to mistreat the former Head of State.

According to Kalonzo, the transition from one government to another should always be as seamless and respectful as has been the case in the past, with no form of mud being tossed from one quarter towards the other.

The two leaders spoke on Tuesday in Lavington, Nairobi, when they visited the home of the late former Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha to condole with him following his sudden death last week.

“What would George think of hearing that his Number 1 (Kenyatta) is now being victimized? If anybody was to today go out and be seen to victimize President Uhuru Kenyatta, I don’t know what is going to happen to this country,” said the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party co-principal.

Kenyatta, who also doubles up as the Azimio patron, in response to Kalonzo termed those responsible for the said plot to victimize him in the current government as mere idlers not worthy of attention.

“Steve (Kalonzo) usijali hawa watu wanapiga mdomo, wacha wapige bwana. Unajua mtu ambaye hana kitu ingine ya kufanya lazima apige mdomo, wacha wapige mdomo, hiyo ni dunia, sisi tunaendelea na yetu,” stated Kenyatta.

Kalonzo had earlier narrated examples of past transitions witnessed in the country, even going ahead to further compare alleged acts to victimize Kenyatta as an almost similar situation to what happened previously in Zambia.

“I happen to have been in politics for a long time, because I entered young and even unmarried, and so I’ve seen it all. The first time I went to State House was to see Mzee Kenyatta lying in State. I saw Mzee Moi take over from Kenyatta, and then Kibaki...and it was seamless, no name calling,” said the Wiper boss.

“There are some who were with me in Cabinet (during Kibaki’s time) who wanted Mzee Moi dispossessed of the place he stayed, so when they brought the matter up in Cabinet some of us objected. Mzee Kibaki actually ordered Chris Murungaru and Kiraitu Murungi to deliver the title deed to Mzee Moi to show that we must respect our leaders at that level if we’re going to have a country. And when Uhuru took over from Kibaki, he considered Kibaki his father.”

He added that: “So what is this we’re hearing around town? The pettiness which Fred (Matiang’i) is talking about. You hear things that remind you of a country like Zambia; when President Chiluba took over from Kaunda and started saying Kaunda is a Malawian, after having been president (of Zambia) for 28 years, Chiluba did not last.”
