Waititu arrested after EACC morning raid in Runda
Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been arrested.
Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) took the Governor from his Runda home on Thursday.
This comes just hours after the sleuths raided two other homes belonging to Waititu.
One is said to be located in Garden Estate and another near Paradise Lost on Kiambu Road.
A contingent of police officers and detectives were seen searching the homes.
They are said to have arrived as early as 5am but it is not clear what exactly they were looking for.
On May 2 this year, questions arose over the Kiambu County Government’s alleged allocation of Ksh.1 billion to functions of the national government.
The Auditor General revealed that the county had budgeted for State House functions, benefits for retired presidents, Free Primary Education and the South Sudan peace program.
In his defence, Waititu insinuated that the report might have been interfered with to embarrass him.
