Warrant of arrest out for businessman Jimi Wanjigi, his wife Irene Nzisa
A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest for businessman Jimi Wanjigi over alleged conspiracy to commit a felony and forgery of a title deed.
The warrant was also issued against Wanjigi’s 7 other alleged co-conspirators among them his wife Irene Nzisa Wanjigu, Himanshu Velji Dodhia, Kaneez Noorani, Mohamed Hussein Noorani, Mohamed Hussanali, Kairu Augustine Thuo and John Nyanjua Njenga.
“On diverse dates between 9th April 2010 and 5th June 2018 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before court, conspired together to commit a felony namely forgery of a title deed for land registered as IR.65800 LR.N0.1870/11/200 deed plan No.175145 dated 20th July 1993 under the name of Horizon hills limited,” read court papers.
Magistrate Bernard Ochoi hence ordered Wanjigi and his co-accused to appear in court on Monday next week.
This comes after armed officers raided the businessman's offices at General Mathenge drive in Westlands, Nairobi.
The unknown number of officers arrived at the Kwacha Group of Companies offices at around 9.30pm on Monday night.
Images grabbed from CCTV footage and shared on social media showed several armed officers standing outside the gate of Wanjigi's offices ostensibly waiting to gain access.
Speaking exclusively to Citizen Digital after the night operation, Wanjigi said the incident was politically orchestrated due to his political stand and more so, remarks he made over the weekend where he castigated Odinga accusing him of dishonesty.
“I tend to believe that it has a lot to do with what I said over the weekend and maybe they have some information of the kind of campaign I intend to launch. But this weekend I was very clear about various personalities and it seems to be making some of my friends very uncomfortable,” he said.
Wanjigi accused the Head of State of violating the Constitution to silence political opponents.
“Why are they so uncomfortable with my candidature? Why...? he posed.
“Let them just come out and say it. Uhuru Kenyatta just come out and say it. And to imagine that my friend Raila... Raila Amolo Odinga whom I was almost killed for, is sitting with him (Uhuru) somewhere probably enjoying this spectacle is the saddest thing of all,” said Wanjigi.
