Wavinya dismisses Mutuas Maendeleo Chap Chap

Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party leader and chairperson of the Political Parties Liaison Committee Wavinya Ndeti has disowned the recent endorsement by a section of Akamba clans council of elders to visit Ukambani region to promote the Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement.

Speaking to the press in Machakos after attending a womens’ meeting, Wavinya said that the elders should not be used politically but instead should help address issues of corruption in the management of the Machakos County resources and funds.

Wavinya said it was a bad idea to give Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua and his Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement to traverse Ukambani region.

She called on the elders and residents of Machakos to go through the auditor’s report and understand the issues ailing their county and not be used to settle political scores.

The chair added that she will continue to play oversight on the management of public funds by the County Government of Machakos under the leadership of Governor Mutua saying that the Governor should not squander public funds to drive his political ambitions in the region.

She dispelled notions that she is against Mutua but said the only problem, according to her, is on how he (Mutua) manages the resources and development priority for the people of Machakos County.

Wavinya, who lost to Governor Mutua during the 2013 General Elections, also called on women to go for elective and political posts adding that she is still in race for the gubernatorial position come 2017.
