Eldas MP Adan Keynan has elucidated why the Jubilee party has been persistent in making an official exit from the Azimio One Kenya coalition and join the ruling party Kenya Kwanza.

According to Keynan, the party has been sidelined in the coalition's affairs including deliberating on pertinent matters such as the formation of the coalition's leadership.

Speaking in a panel on Citizen TV on Tuesday morning, Keynan argued that the party has been living a long con game and has already given notice to the Registrar of Political Parties.

"We were not party to the arrangement that led to the formation of that coalition, it was done by the leaders then. But I think we were duped...we were actually conned as Jubilee the same way Mudavadi and Wetangula were conned, history repeats itself," he said.

"All out positions were taken by your party (ODM). Jubilee is the second-largest party in the opposition. We ought to have either the minority leader, the minority whip, or the deputy minority leader. Our position in PSC was taken even in the committee of formation," he added.

"In this broad daylight, who will subscribe to political conmanship, we will not."

The legislator, who is the party's interim Deputy chairperson, had first announced the party's intended exit when he appeared in the same show on July 31, when he said that the party does not subscribe to the opposition's ideologies which led to the destruction of property and loss of lives during the anti-government protests.

"Jubilee has refused and will continue to refuse to be party to maandamano that are tailor-made for the destruction of the property and lives of Kenyans," he said.

At the time the opposition was leading a tri-weekly protest which ran from Wednesday to Friday.

Keynan added that he has mobilized all party members to steer clear of the protests apart from Jeremiah Kioni, who was suspended as the party's Secretary General.

The Jubilee party has been marred with chaos as factions led by Kioni and EALA MP Kanini Kega have fought over the party's leadership.

Meanwhile, there is a stay order preserving Kioni's tenure following a decision by the High Court that suspended an order made by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) okaying his suspension.

According to Kega's faction, Kioni and the former deputy chairperson David Murathe were expelled from the party leadership.
