We will pay flight tickets for Kenyans going to work abroad – Ruto

Speaking in Taita Taveta on Sunday, the Head of State said 1000 Kenyans leave the country every week to take overseas jobs.

“I have done my work, I have looked for jobs abroad. I have planned that those going for overseas jobs get their passports in one week. They do not even need money for flight tickets, we will pay for flights,” Ruto said.

The president urged Members of Parliament to organise youths in their constituencies so that they benefit from the jobs abroad.

In a bid to tackle youth unemployment in the country, the Head of State has inked deals with various countries, which will see Kenya export its youthful workforce.

Other than those going abroad, Ruto has also been keen on creating digital jobs, where youth can work for overseas companies remotely.

On May 26, Ruto promised to secure investments and opportunities, including 10,000 overseas jobs for Kenyans.

He said the plan will see 250,000 Kenyans work abroad each year.
