'We're not in talks with Azimio la Umoja,' Kiunjuri says TSP will field presidential candidate
The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri
says his party will field a presidential candidate in the August 9, 2022 elections as well as contest all other seats.
Kiunjuri denied claims that his party has
joined the Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja movement.
He said the party is yet to declare which
political outfit to join ahead of the forthcoming general election.
Kiunjuri stated that TSP will make a major
declaration in March this year on which direction to follow.
He spoke on Friday as he also received former
Gilgil Member of Parliament Mathenge Nderitu who defected from the Jubilee
party.
“One of our senior leaders from Jubilee and
Azimio purported to issue a statement whereby he masquearaded to speak on our
behalf, that TSP is in talks or already in Azimio,” he said.
“I want to make it very clear that we have
never had a any discussion with Azimio or any of their leaders…we have never
opened that kind of a platform with them, and we’re not ready to open any
discussion with any party for now.”
He further added: “We said clearly two months
ago that we shall be issuing a statement in the month of March to let Kenyans
know who we’re going to support as the next president of Kenya.”
