A caucus of more than 50 members of Parliament, Senators, and Governors drawn from the western region has thrown its full support behind Raila Odinga's candidature for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.

The coalition, known for its strong presence in Kenyan politics, has endorsed Odinga as the best candidate to represent Africa's interests on the continental stage.

During a gathering attended by prominent political figures, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, the Kenya Kwanza government, led by President Ruto, officially endorsed Odinga's candidature for AUC chairman.

Speaker Wetangula's attendance demonstrated the government's commitment to Odinga's candidature.

The coalition's chairperson, John Waluke, reiterated the group's unwavering support for Odinga's aspirations, emphasising their intention to fully support him throughout the AU chairmanship campaign.

Kakamega Governor Fernandez Barasa, along with every member of Parliament present, expressed unequivocal support for Odinga's candidature.

Their collective endorsement highlights Odinga's broad appeal in Kenya's political landscape and reflects a shared belief in his ability to effectively represent African interests in the AU.

The Kenyan political coalition's decision to rally support for Odinga's AU chairmanship bid is a strategic move aimed at advancing the country's interests on the continental stage.

With a united front supporting Odinga, Kenya hopes to use his leadership and diplomatic skills to champion critical African issues and promote continental progress.
