Wetangula criticizes Maraga’s involvement in Gen Z protests

Speaking at a Mama Mboga Empowerment Forum held at Lukusi Primary School in Webuye East, the speaker revealed that Maraga’s participation in the Gen Z protests that later degenerated into looting and lawlessness not only undermined his dignity but also sent the wrong message to a generation looking up to him for guidance.

He called on him to desist from taking advantage of innocent young people to push personal or political agendas. 

Wetangula was flanked by several leaders, including Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro, Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli and President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet. 

Maraga, once a man who held the highest position within the Judiciary, has been calling out the ills of the incumbent government, accusing it of undermining the rule of law, promoting impunity, and disregarding constitutional principles.

Recently, the former CJ declared his intentions to vie for the presidency in the 2027 elections, citing that the restoration of the rule of law and ending police brutality would be top of his agenda. 

During the Wednesday, June 25, protests, Maraga joined the Gen Zs while advocating for justice for lives lost at the hands of police officers.

The peaceful protests, however, degenerated into chaos following running battles between the rioters and police officers.
