Weve managed healthcare better than the National Govt-Kisii Governor

Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has reiterated that healthcare should be left to devolved governments as they are best placed to handle the crucial role.

Speaking as he launched new ambulances for the county, he differed strongly with leaders who said that the health sector to be managed by the national government.

Ongwae argued that the condition of hospitals in the counties has improved immensely since counties took charge of them. He added that what the county government has done in the brief period of time they have managed the sector is incomparable to what the national government has done since independence.

The governor promised that his team will buy five other vehicles in three months’ time. This will increase the total number of ambulances purchased by his administration to ten.

The County Health Minister Sarah Omache stated that since the commencement of ambulance services, more than five hundred lives have been saved.
