Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has pointed out that the ills Kenya is facing is as a result of poor leadership and governance.

Karua, who spoke during a forum on the unity of Mt. Kenya in Meru County on Monday, advised Kenyans to listen to all the leaders seeking political seats and check their track records.

She urged the country’s citizens to shun away political leaders with corrupt tendencies and issues as the country enters the next political cycle.

According to Karua, Kenya has no shortage of honest and good leaders who can occupy political positions and lead the country to greater heights.

She warned Kenyans against endorsing politicians who are facing integrity issues in various courts in the country.

“Ile kitu tumekosa Kenya sio pesa, sio fikra…tumekosa uongozi bora.

Karua stressed on the significance of multipartyism, warning leaders against being lured into the narrative of dissolving political parties to form one party ahead of the 2022 contest.

She cited the differences President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are going through as an example of the limited political space one party state can cause.

“Wale wanakumbuka ile enzi ya chama moja, wanakumbuka ni jasho tulitoa, watu wakafungwa, wengine walifariki, ndivyo tupate vyama vingi. Tulitoka huko na Misri haturudi,” said Karua during a forum on the unity of Mt. Kenya in Meru County.

“Kwa hivyo haifai mtu yeyote atuambie sisi sote tuende kwa chama moja. Lakini wacha hizo chama zetu zote zishirikiane, na ndio maana mnaona nikisimama na ndugu zangu kusema this is Mt. Kenya Unity Forum. I spent my youth fighting for multiparty politics.”
