Deputy President William Ruto has told off his political rivals over ridiculing his ‘wheelbarrow’ politics.

DP Ruto defended the wheelbarrow narrative saying that it is just a mere party symbol like any other and should not be used by political players to undermine his political agenda.

The Deputy President revealed his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party had not in any way hinted at giving Kenyans wheelbarrow,as his rivals believe.

Siasa iko na utapeli mwingi, hakuna mahali sisi tumesema tutapatiana wheelbarrow kwa mtu yeyote wacha vijana,” DP Ruto said while in an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday.

Wheelbarrow ni alama; it is just a symbol of any party. Kuna chama iko na wheelbarrow, chungwa, kuna chama iko na wheelbarrow, kuku, kuna chama iko na wheelbarrow, punda and all manner of things,” he added.

DP Ruto went further to mock critics over what he termed as political conmanship saying that having a symbol does not mean a party will be offering the symbol to the citizens.

At the same time, Ruto underscored the importance of the wheelbarrow in society, as a tool for making work easier and a representation of hard work saying that his party used the wheelbarrow symbolically.

Consequently, the DP rubbished symbols politics while challenging all political players that if they wanted to engage in the same, they should consider explaining their own party symbols to Kenyans.
