Wiper party leader and former Vice President
Kalonzo Musyoka wants a solution found to the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition
party running mate quandary.
A day after the running mate advisory
committee handed a report on the issue to the party flagbearer Raila Odinga, Kalonzo
alluded vaguely to the issue, speaking of political turbulence which he said
would be resolved.
His allies, especially Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua
who was a member of the running mate selection panel, said Kalonzo will be
pushed by the party to run for president if he is not given the Azimio running
mate position.
“Nasaidia South Sudan, nawezaje kushindwa
kusaidia Raila? Kwa hivo hakuna shida. Kuna umuhimu watujaribu tuone vile
tutatatua jambo hili la nani atakuwa mgombea mwenza wa Azimio la Umoja One
Kenya, kwa sababu sasa inaonekana kuna political turbulence,” Kalonzo told a
rally in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County, on Friday.
“Lakini Wakenya msifadhaike, haki itafanyika,
na ni lazima haki ifanyike mbele ywa Wakenya wenyewe na Mwenyezi Mungu…kwa hivo
yale yatatokea mtayajua.
Senator Wambua, on his part, stated: “Kama
Kalonzo Musyoka will not be the deputy president wa Raila Amollo Odinga, then
Raila Amollo Odinga will not be the president.”
“On Monday all presidential aspirants
wanapeleka majina za their running mates, kama jina la Azimio One Kenya running
mate hatakuwa Kalonzo Musyoka, basi sisi kama wanachama tutapeleka jina la
running mate wa Kalonzo Musyoka,” he added.
