Woman, 23, arrested over accusation of stabbing lover to death in Nakuru

A 23-year-old woman identified as Breswit Wambui is being held at Central Police station in Nakuru after she reportedly stabbed her lover John Mungai, 32, killing him on the spot.

Nakuru East Deputy County Commissioner Erick Wanyonyi confirmed the incident, saying the couple has been cohabiting at the Whitehouse area up until the tragic incident.

Police officers who were alerted to the matter swung to action arresting the suspect before she fled from the scene.

At the scene, cops found the body of the victim lying in a pool of blood. A kitchen knife which detectives believe was the murder weapon was lying close by.

The genesis of the nasty quarrel is yet to be known although neighbours said the two occasionally took alcohol.

Wanyonyi has now urged the youth to desist from substance abuse, saying the effects are life-changing.

The body of the decedent was transferred to the Nakuru County Municipal Mortuary on Thursday afternoon.

The 23-year-old suspect is in police custody awaiting her arraignment in court.
