Woman allegedly kills 3 children, commits suicide in Nakuru; leaves suicide note

A middle-aged woman reportedly killed her three children before hanging herself in their house in Gilgil, Nakuru County.

According to reports, the 32-year-old woman is said to have been married to a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer who has been in Somalia.

Gilgil sub-county Police Commander John Onditi confirmed the incident saying the woman is suspected to have poisoned the children first before taking her own life.

Neighbours raised alarm following a bad stench emanating from the woman’s house, and having not seen her or her three children for three days.

The woman is said to have left a suicide note explaining her misfortunes in the marriage, alleging that her husband has not been taking care of his family's needs as expected.

The scene was processed by the Gilgil sub-county crime scene squad while the bodies were taken to the Gilgil sub-county mortuary.
