Woman attempts suicide by throwing self into Indian Ocean

Police in Likoni, Mombasa, have arrested a 28-year-old woman for attempting suicide after she threw herself into the Indian Ocean Saturday morning.

Confirming the incident, Likoni police boss Willy Simba said the woman identified as Hadija Abdullah had waited until the Likoni dock-bound ferry had left when she threw herself into the sea.

She was, however, rescued by a man, who handed her over to the police.

Willy Simba said that the woman confessed to having marital problems which had triggered her to have suicidal thoughts.

Hadija will be arraigned on charges of attempted suicide on Tuesday, December 13.
