Woman dies after falling on a spear in Kajiado

A woman died on Thursday after she fell on a spear at Eselenkei in Kajiado County while she was repairing her hut.

The spear had been planted outside her house by a Moran as per a customary tradition.

According to Kajiado OCPD Herbert Khaemba, the woman was mortally injured and died on the spot as the spear went in through her back and out through her stomach.

She was buried at her home on the same day.

Elsewhere, a 7-month-old child perished on Friday morning in a house fire at Milimani Estate in Suna West sub County, Migori County.

The incident that occurred Friday morning left property of an unknown value destroyed by the fire whose cause is yet to be established.

According to a relative of the deceased, Joseph Onyango, the child was in the house in company of her 4-year-old sister after their father left for work in the morning when the fire broke out.

He said they rushed to the house to rescue the two children but unfortunately found the toddler already dead, and only managed to rescue the 4-year-old.

Olala said they found when all property in the house had already caught fire and they did not rescue anything.

Confirming the incident, Marindi location chief Mr Christopher Ochieng said they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.

He is appealing to the parents to be cautious and avoid leaving children alone in the house, especially when there is a fire nearby.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Migori level 4 hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
