My kicker tonight is on a subject matter I am extremely reluctant to venture into. In fact, I am so reluctant that I prefer not to have this conversation alone and instead invite you to weigh in too. I am sure you have seen the video of President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua during a recent Muslim prayer session and the related memes making rounds on the social media.

Don’t wait for my opinion on that video. Sina maoni! I just know that faith and religion is a deeply personal matter, and I also know that President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua are Christians and had joined Muslims for prayers and for the breaking of the fast – Iftar. I also know that Muslim prayers or Salaah are very particular – from the ruquu to the sujuud and on to the salaam, and the recitations that go with it; this is a space of authentic precision.

Again, don’t wait for my opinion, sina maoni! I just can't help wondering how it would play out if our Muslim brothers and sisters decided to reciprocate, visit some Christian place of worship one of these Sundays, and try out the course of worship even if just for the spirit of fitting in.

That is my kicker!
