Acid tests for Sacco, Bomet as season enters homestretch
Bomet, who have the biggest haul of 63 points from 31 matches entertain promotion-chasing Shabana at the IAAF Bomet Stadium in Bomet on Saturday before Fortune Sacco take on local rivals Murang’a Seal in the Mount Kenya derby at the Kianyaga stadium on Sunday.
Bomet tactician Charles Odera is confident of his side’s prospects in their clash against Shabana with a win enough to open a six-point cushion should Sacco fail to get the better of Murang’a Seal.
“The second-tier league is very competitive but we are trying our best to secure promotion by winning the remaining matches. Shabana is a good side that is also chasing for promotion so we understand the amount of challenge they will put on our way. The boys have rested well and I am sure they will win it and move us further ahead on the log.”
Fortune Sacco team manager Julius Kariuki says a win against Murang’a Seal will set them up nicely to contest for the title.
“We always set out to win all our home games since this strategy has worked for us this season. Murang’a is a good opponent and the fact that we come from the same region makes it more challenging, but I trust the ability of my players to get the job done.”
