The federation will use the two-day event to pick a team that will fly the Kenyan flag in this year's World Championships slated for August 19-27 in Budapest, Hungary.
In a press briefing held Saturday, AK president Jackson Tuwei said the athletes invited for the trials have met all the anti-doping requirements set by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
"The trials will be by invitation only and all the athletes who will compete have met the anti-doping rules and some could be subject to meeting the entry standards," said Tuwei.
Tuwei explained that two athletes to cross the finish line will earn automatic qualification in Team Kenya with the third athlete being picked by a panel of selectors.
The AK president further outlined the requirements for athletes to compete at the trials.
"All invited participating during the trials should personally collect their own bib numbers on Thursday failure to which they will not allowed to compete.
The athletes who wish to double will be allowed to do so, however the decision to double at the double at the World Championships will be a preserve of the selection panel." Tuwei outlined.
Tuwei also disclosed that the relay teams will compete with foreign teams during the trials as they seek qualification for the global event.
"We have invited some teams including South Africa, Botswana and Uganda and we are still waiting for the final confirmation so that we can know the entries we have. We also have arrangements for the team to travel to Belgium at the end of this month before the window closes," he said.
At the same time, Tuwei said athletes who have wild card must also compete during the trials.
