The race dubbed Mwea Marathon, was held at the Mwea
National Reserve in Makima, Mbeere South of Embu.
The proceeds will assist the vulnerable pupils whose parents
and guardians can't afford school fees.
It is also part of several tourist activities that are
taking place in Embu County tourism week that precedes the UN World Tourism Day
to be celebrated at the Moi Stadium Embu on Wednesday 27, 2023.
Leaders who graced the marathon said race has
enabled officials to identify talents that will be nurtured as the organisers
plan to have athletics training camp in Makima.
It is also part of marketing the Mwea National Game Reserve
whose potential remains untapped.
