AP coach Olanga faults poor officiating in NSL tie

Administration Police assistant coach Josiah Olang’a has called on referees to pull up their socks, faulting the quality of officiating in Monday’s National Super League tie  between his side and Nairobi Stima that ended in a three-all-draw.

“It’s (officiating) not the best. It had flashes. Sometimes he is fair, sometimes he is doing his own things. And that is officiating in Kenya, I cannot say anything much,” a fuming Olanga’a said.

The law enforcers were irked by the referees’ decision to award Stima a third goal despite the controversy that surrounded it, arguing that it had gone in through an opening on the side net with the game being stopped for several minutes.

“A lot of things happen on the pitch, but it is expected. I want to thank my team mates for the spirit despite the controversy. Their third goal was not genuine. It went in through the side net, but we are happy for the draw,” said Asumwa Etemesi, scorer of AP’s first goal.

Both sides however singled out their respective defences after conceding three goals each in the high power encounter expressing the need for improvement if they are to earn a slot to the Kenya Premier League next season.

Nairobi Stima head coach George Owoko, admitting that his side’s ability to man their territory is yet to match their attacking tenacity, said :”We shall try as much as we can because we score, but again we concede, it is our main undoing, just concentration.

“It will take time but you know, I’m very happy, I know things will work out, I have to give them time.”

The outcome  left Stima fourth on 17 points while AP tenth on 12.
