APS Bomet head coach Evans Mafuta is convinced his team's
promotion from the National Super League (NSL) to the top-tier league was
fueled by hard work and the players' strong desire for success.
The KPL debutants arguably enjoyed a seamless
campaign, historically earning their automatic promotion to the FKF Premier
League 2025/26 season after emerging second in the 2024/25 National Super
League season behind winners Nairobi United.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mafuta explained that from the beginning of the just-concluded season, the club
had set its sights on earning promotion, and everyone in the squad committed
wholeheartedly to achieving that goal.
"The first thing that really worked for us in
seeking to playing at the top level was having players who were hungry for
success and having the willingness to give it all towards the KPL dream.
“The camp knew they only had one thing in their mind, road to
Kenyan Premier League," Mafuta said.
The tactician, who previously coached Vihiga
United is expected to draw on his past experience in the top flight to help
guide APS Bomet, who will be competing in the Premier League for the first time
next season.
"This is my second stint in the FKF Premier
League, I believe my past experience in the league will help the team manover
because we are here to play." Mafuta further explained.
APS Bomet will be seeking to flex their muscles
against the KPL bigwigs after dominating the National Super League in the just
concluded season.
According to Mafuta, the winning mentality is still key to help
the club navigate the challenges in the country's top flight football.
