Arsenal to meet Barcelona in Champions League

Arsenal is set to meet European Champions Barcelona in the last 16 of Champions League.

The draw announced on Monday will also see Paris St-Germain meet Chelsea,  AS Roma will meet Real Madrid while Juventus face Bayern Munich.

The first leg will be played on January 16-17 and February 23-24 with the return leg slated for March 8-9 and March 15-16.

Arsenal finished second in their group behind Bayern Munich while Barcelona finished first followed by Roma.

The two teams last met at the same stage in 2011 where Arsenal lost 4-3 on aggregate despite winning 2-1 at home.

In 2010, Barcelona triumphed 6-3 on aggregate thanks to a four-goal show from Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp while in 2006, the only time Arsenal reached the final of the competition, the Gunners lost 2-1 to a Juliano Belletti 80th minute winner.
