Plateau Queens Captain Velma Awuor says Safaricom Chapa Dimba experience has kept live her dreams of playing for Barcelona Ladies in future.

Awuor who emerged the best player of the tournament helped her side to beat Barcelona from central 4-0 in the girl’s finals on Sunday at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu to lift the trophy.

Plateau Queens also known as Nyakach Girls had sailed through to the finals after beating Brenda Girls from Bungoma County 5-1 in the semifinals.

“My dream since I was young was to play for Barcelona in Spain and I can say that the Safaricom Chapa Dimba experience has really given me an opportunity to showcase my talent and boost my believe of playing football in Europe. I find Barcelona Ladies to be a very nice team with great players whom if given a chance, it will be my best place to announce my talent to the world and help them win more trophies.

“I am very happy to win the trophy. We lost in Regionals finals but winning it in the national finals boosts my morale more. As payers, we had vowed to fight till the end and now we are enjoying the win. Since I joined Nyakach Girls I haven’t won a trophy like this, but now I’m happy that we will return to school with a cup.”

By emerging best player in the tournament Awuor was awarded Sh. 50,000 on top as other outstanding players including best keeper (Mercy Akoth, Plateau Queens) and Top Scorer (Naomi Masinde, Barcelona Ladies) received similar amount of price.

Elsewhere, Obunga FC clinched the boy’s title after defeating Uasin Gishu's PASC Langa 4-2 in a post-match penalty shootout, following a tense 1-1 draw during regular time.

Boniface Ouko of PASC Langa emerged the top scorer as William Odek of Obunga was the best keeper. The most valuable player award in boy’s category went to Armstrong Omondi of Obunga and they were awarded Sh.50, 000 each.

A mixed team of thirty two players will be selected for a camp in Spain later in the year.
